There was no surprise when 11th ranked Saitama Broncos (2-18) were defeated on the road by third ranked Iwate Big Bulls (16-6) 101-88 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Iwate Big Bulls. Saitama Broncos managed to win second period 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Iwate Big Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 46. The best player for the winners was American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette, agency: Top Notch Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The other American import forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Top Notch Sports) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Yuki Kitamuki (184-85) who recorded 20 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Dameion Baker (192-78, college: Mount Olive) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Iwate Big Bulls have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Yokohama BC. Saitama Broncos lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will meet Gunma (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saitama Broncos will play against Sendai 89ers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
