Regular Season Round 36: Halc.Xalapa - Corr.Victoria 119-95
Date: December 29, 2012
LNBP top team - Halcones UV Xalapa (32-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Correcaminos (14-22) 119-95. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones UV Xalapa. Correcaminos was better in third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the former international center Lorenzo Mata (205-86) supported him with 14 points and 12 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Halcones UV Xalapa's coach Angel Gonzalez felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by American point guard Myron Allen (182-79, college: Lee JC) did not help to save the game for Correcaminos. His fellow American import power forward DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) added 27 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones UV Xalapa have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 32-4 record. Correcaminos at the other side keep the tenth place with 22 games lost. They share the position with Barreteros. Halcones UV Xalapa will play against Abejas (#9) in Guanajuato in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Correcaminos will play at home against the league's second-placed Toros in Nuevo Laredo and hope to get back on the winning track.
