Very important is a road loss of third ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (11-8) against sixth ranked Shanghai Octopus (11-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Jiangsu Phoenix was defeated by Shanghai Octopus in Shanghai 78-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Jiangsu Phoenix. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Shanghai Octopus made 21-of-24 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game, while Jiangsu Phoenix only scored five points from the stripe. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Camille Little (188-85, college: N.Carolina) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. point guard Xiufeng Shi (178-87) accounted for 22 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Forward Meng Jin (186-91) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and American center Krystal Thomas (195-89, college: Duke) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Jiangsu Phoenix in the defeat. Shanghai Octopus have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Jiangsu. Shanghai Octopus will play against Beijing Great Wall (#7) on the road in the next round. Jiangsu Phoenix will play against the league's leader Shanxi in Taiyuan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
