Regular Season Round 15: FCB Regal - Real Madrid 96-89
Date: December 30, 2012
The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Real Madrid (14-1) on the court of tenth ranked Regal FC Barcelona on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Regal FC Barcelona 96-89. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Real Madrid. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-20. But Real Madrid won second period 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Real Madrid 31-20 including 22 on the defensive glass. Regal FC Barcelona shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. It was a good game for international guard Juan Carlos Navarro (192-80) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). American forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) contributed with 15 points for the winners. International Rudy Fernandez (198-85) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) added 17 points and 5 assists in the effort for Real Madrid. Five Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion (8-7) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Real Madrid at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Regal FC Barcelona is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Lagun Aro GBC (#18) in San Sebastian in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Real Madrid will play at home against FIATC Joventut (#11) in Badalona and is hoping to win this game.
