Huracanes managed to secure a 7-point victory 87-80 on Thursday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 32-18. But Fuerza Regia won third quarter 19-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Huracanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) fired 28 points and 4 steals for the winners. The former international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 assists. American guard Mario West (195-84, college: Georgia Tech) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds and center Lance Allred (211-81, college: Weber St., agency: SportsTalent) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Huracanes and five Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Huracanes maintains eighth place with 21-15 record. Loser Fuerza Regia keeps the seventh position with 15 games lost. Huracanes will meet at home Abejas (#9) in the next round. Fuerza Regia will play against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and hope to secure a win.
