Important game to mention about took place in Guelph, ON. Fourth ranked Gryphons (3-5) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Mustangs (1-7) 58-57 on Thursday evening. Mustangs were ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 19-17 charge of Gryphons, which allowed them to win the game. Gryphons had a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mustangs were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Daniel McCarthy (190) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Guard Zachary Angus (185) contributed with 6 points for the winners. Guard Ryan Higgins (193) answered with 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Peter Scholtes (196) added 10 points in the effort for Mustangs. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gryphons moved-up to third place, which they share with New Brunsw. and McMaster. Mustangs lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Gryphons will play against league's leader Lancers in Windsor, ON in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mustangs will play at home against Badgers (#5) in St.Catharines, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
