LNBP top team - Halcones UV Xalapa (33-4) added another victory to their record. This time they beat ninth ranked Abejas (19-18) in Guanajuato 107-103. It looked good early as Abejas took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Halcones UV Xalapa had a 32-22 second period charge getting the lead and Abejas were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 103-107. Halcones UV Xalapa made 26-of-31 charity shots (83.9 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American guard Kevin Sowell (190-81, agency: Interperformances) nailed 27 points and 6 assists for the winning side and international guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (185-86, college: W.Kentucky) accounted for 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Sowell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Halcones UV Xalapa players scored in double figures. Halcones UV Xalapa's coach Angel Gonzalez allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Halcones UV Xalapa have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 33-4 record. Abejas lost third consecutive game.
