There was no surprise in Toronto, ON where 6th ranked Lions (4-5) were crushed by third ranked Gee-Gees (8-1) 93-74 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Gee-Gees. Lions was better in fourth quarter 29-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gee-Gees forced 19 Lions turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Warren Ward (196-89) who scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (185) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Daniel Tulloch (196) who recorded 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard David Tyndale (180) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Four Lions players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gee-Gees have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Carleton. Loser Lions dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Gee-Gees will face Voyageurs (#5) in Sudbury, ON in the next round. Lions will play at home against the league's second-placed Ravens in Ottawa, ON.
