Regular Season Round 15: Waterloo - Lakehead 64-73

Bottom-ranked Waterloo (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 73-64 loss to fifth ranked Thunderwolves (4-4) in Waterloo on Friday evening. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 23-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Thunderwolves forced 27 Waterloo turnovers. Strangely Waterloo outrebounded Thunderwolves 42-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Jessica De Haan who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Carolyn Fragale (168-89) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Swedish guard Erika Persson (178-88) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Laura Bossers (178) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for Thunderwolves. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Queen's and Guelph. Waterloo lost their eighth game in a row. They still closes the standings with eight games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. Waterloo will play again at home against Thunderwolves (#5) in Thunder Bay and hopes to get finally their first victory.
