Regular Season Round 11: Uni Girona - Gran Canaria 59-61

The game between third ranked Argon Uni Girona (7-3) and ninth ranked Gran Canaria (4-6) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Argon Uni Girona was edged by Gran Canaria in a tough game in Girona 59-61. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Argon Uni Girona. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-12. But Argon Uni Girona won second period 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was international power forward Vanessa Ble (190-91) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds. Leticia Romero (176-95) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). American forward Allison Feaster-Strong (181-76, college: Harvard, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced 19 points and forward Anna Carbo (176-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Gran Canaria moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Argon Uni Girona at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Gran Canaria is looking forward to face Cadi ICG S. (#9) in Seu D'urgell in the next round. Argon Uni Girona will play at home against Socinsa Bembibre (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
