Regular Season Round 38: Huracanes - Toros 84-77

The most important game in the last round took place in Tampico between second ranked Toros (29-9) and eighth ranked Huracanes (22-15) on Saturday night. Toros were defeated by Huracanes in a tough game on the road 77-84. Toros trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 29-24 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 77-84 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Five Huracanes players scored in double figures. American guard Toney McCray (198-89, college: Nebraska, agency: Interperformances) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and American-Nigerian forward Ike Ofoegbu (205-85, college: SMU) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Huracanes maintains eighth position with 22-15 record. Toros at the other side dropped to the third place with nine games lost. They share the position with Soles. Huracanes are looking forward to face Barreteros (#10) in Zacatecas in the next round. Toros will play on the road against Guerreros (#13) in Chilpancingo and are hoping to win this game.
