Regular Season Round 16: Waterloo - Lakehead 52-85

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Warriors (0-9) were smashed by second ranked Thunderwolves (5-4) in Waterloo, ON 85-52 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Thunderwolves. Warriors was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Thunderwolves forced 19 Warriors turnovers and outrebounded them 43-25 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for naturalized Egyptian forward Yoosrie Salhia (198-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Center Ryan Thomson (201-90) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Thunderwolves players scored in double figures. Gill Jaspreet replied with 18 points and guard Wayne Bridge (188-90) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Warriors. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Thunderwolves have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-4 record having four points less than leader Bishop's. Loser Warriors still closes the standings with nine games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. Warriors will play on the road against Mustangs (#7) in London, ON and hope to get finally their first victory.
