Regular Season Round 25: Fukuoka Rizing - Shimane SM 95-103

Another exciting game was between second ranked Shimane Magic and 3rd placed Fukuoka Rizing where Shimane Magic (16-7) beat Fukuoka Rizing (15-8) on the road 103-95. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Fukuoka Rizing. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Fukuoka Rizing's 30 and made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Fukuoka Rizing 49-32 including a 41-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shimane Magic brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Fukuoka Rizing was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Brandon Freeman (191-83, college: UALR, agency: Court Side) contributed with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. Shimane Magic's coach Zeljko Pavlicevic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) answered with 20 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Justin Johnson (198-86, college: Iowa, agency: Top Notch Sports) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Fukuoka Rizing. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Shimane Magic. They maintain second place with 16-7 record having just two points less than leader Yokohama BC. Fukuoka Rizing at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Shimane Magic will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fukuoka Rizing will play again at home against the league's second-placed Shimane Magic (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
