Regular Season Round 16: TRU - UBC Okanagan 91-54

Date: January 5, 2013
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Thompson Rivers (7-3) crushed 5th ranked UBC Okanagan (4-6) in Kamloops 91-54 on Saturday. The game without a history. Thompson Rivers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Thompson Rivers forced 36 UBC Okanagan turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Thompson Rivers made 8 blocks. It was a very good performance for center Diane Schuetze (191) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Forward Tracy Kocs (178) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Madison Kaneda (178) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and guard Sarah Allison (180-92) added 12 points in the effort for UBC Okanagan. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Thompson Rivers have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser UBC Okanagan keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
