Regular Season Round 16: Amsterdam - Rotterdam 80-60
Date: January 6, 2013
Bottom-ranked Amsterdam managed to get a second victory, breaking the eight-game losing streak on Sunday night. This time they outleveled ninth-ranked Rotterdam 80-60. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference suggests that Amsterdam is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Amsterdam led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Rotterdam's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Pascal Balm (200-84) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and center Berend Weijs (208, college: Maryland) who added 10 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Anthony Miles (182-89, college: Lamar) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Daniel Jones (200-79) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Amsterdam (2-16) moved-up to ninth place. Rotterdam lost fifteenth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 16 games lost. Amsterdam will meet league's second-placed Leiden on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Rotterdam will play against Leeuwarden (#5).
