The game in Oita was also quite interesting. Third ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (17-9) played at the court of 8th ranked Oita Heat Devils (9-15). Hamamatsu Phoenix did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 77-58 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-58. Hamamatsu Phoenix outrebounded Oita Heat Devils 48-21 including a 15-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Oishi Shinnosuke (174-87) notched 19 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and forward Shoji Nakanishi (190-82) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Ryuji Kawai used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 19 points and 4 steals (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) by guard Indre Kersulyte (171-89) did not help to save the game for Oita Heat Devils. American center Thomas Granado (208-88, college: Concordia Irvine) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Hamamatsu Phoenix moved-up to second place. Oita Heat Devils lost eleventh consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 15 games lost. They share it with Takamatsu FA and Tokyo Cinq R.. Hamamatsu Phoenix will meet at home Fukuoka Rizing (#4) in the next round. Oita Heat Devils will play against Kyoto Hannar. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
