Very expected game when 11th ranked FIATC Joventut (7-9) was defeated on the road by first ranked Real Madrid (15-1) 88-77 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. FIATC Joventut was better in third quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Real Madrid looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. FIATC Joventut was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international Rudy Fernandez (198-85) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and the former international point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) who added 13 points and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Tony Gaffney (204-84, college: Massachusetts) responded with 13 points and American-Georgian point guard Corey Fisher (186-88, college: Villanova) scored 12 points. Five Real Madrid and four FIATC Joventut players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Madrid maintains first position with 15-1 record. FIATC Joventut at the other side keeps the eleventh place with nine games lost. Real Madrid will face G.Canaria 2014 (#4) in Las Palmas in the next round. FIATC Joventut will play at home against Blusens Monbus (#7) in Santoago de Comp.
