There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (9-15) won against on the road 7th ranked Takamatsu FA (9-15) 84-79 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-16. But Takamatsu FA won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tokyo Cinq R. shot 32 for 43 from the free-throw line, while Takamatsu FA only scored fourteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Takamatsu FA 44-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. Takamatsu FA was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Jonathan Jones (211-79, agency: TSS Management) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Kenji Sato (180-79) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Tokyo Cinq R. players scored in double figures. American forward Brandon Penn (203-90, college: Rider, agency: I.D.S. Law) replied with 25 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Takamatsu FA. Takamatsu FA's coach Kenzo Maeda tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Tokyo Cinq R. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Oita H.Devils and Takamatsu FA. Tokyo Cinq R. will face higher ranked Akita Happinets (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
