Regular Season Round 12: Maccabi Ashdod - Elitzur Holon 72-69

Sixth-ranked Elitzur Holon (4-7) made lots of trouble for top-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (11-0) on Monday. Maccabi Ashdod managed to secure only three-point victory 72-69. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Elitzur Holon. The hosts trailed by 11 points at the halftime before their 47-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi Ashdod made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Charde Houston (185-86, college: Connecticut, agency: LBM Management) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) chipped in 15 points and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-0 record. Elitzur Holon at the other side keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Hap.Petah Tikva. Maccabi Ashdod are looking forward to face league's second-placed Elitzur Ramla on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
