No shocking result in a game in Veracruz where second ranked Halcones Rojos (32-8) smashed bottom-ranked Gigantes (3-36) 97-68 on Thursday. The game without a history. Halcones Rojos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Gigantes' 36. Halcones Rojos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Noe Alonzo (200-83, college: Grand Canyon) who scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jermaine Johnson (201-85, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import forward Kevin Johnson (201-84, college: Humboldt St.) added 21 points and 8 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Halcones Rojos. They maintain second place with 32-8 record having just two points less than leader Halc.Xalapa. Gigantes lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 36 lost games.
