Regular Season Round 13: Elitzur Holon - Maccabi R.Hen 76-75

The most exciting game of round 13 in the D1 took place in Holon. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Maccabi Ramat Hen (6-5) to seventh ranked Elitzur Holon (5-7) 76-75 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Maccabi Ramat Hen. Maccabi Ramat Hen was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 29-24 charge of Elitzur Holon, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Alexis Hornbuckle (180-85, college: Tennessee) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Guard Whitney Boddie (173-87, college: Auburn, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 25 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Swingman Karima Christmas (182-89, college: Duke) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and center Jenna Smith (191-88, college: Illinois) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi Ramat Hen. Elitzur Holon moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Hap.Petah Tikva. Maccabi Ramat Hen at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Elitzur Holon is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (#9) on the road in the next round. Maccabi Ramat Hen will play against the league's second-placed Elitzur Ramla (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
