Rather expected game when 3rd ranked Bisons (6-5) were smashed by first ranked Thunderbirds (9-2) in Winnipeg, MB 87-61 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Thunderbirds. Bisons was better in second period 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Thunderbirds forced 21 Bisons turnovers and outrebounded them 52-35 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bisons were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Brylle Kamen (201, college: San Jose St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 21 rebounds. The other American import guard Doug Plumb (193, college: Minnesota St.) contributed with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Thunderbirds players scored in double figures. Forward Yigit Ozsayiner (198) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and forward Caleb Noel (198) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Bisons. Bisons' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Thunderbirds have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-2 record, which they share with Ottawa and Alberta. Loser Bisons dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. Thunderbirds will face league's second-placed Wesmen in Winnipeg, MB in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bisons will play at home against the league's second-placed Vikies in Victoria, BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
