Regular Season Round 13: Pogon Prudnik - GTK Gliwice 80-61

There was no surprise when 5th ranked GTK Gliwice (7-5) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Pogon Prudnik (10-2) 80-61 on Saturday. The game without a history. Pogon Prudnik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 29-of-31 free shots (93.5 percent) during the game. Pogon Prudnik forced 24 GTK Gliwice turnovers. GTK Gliwice was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Tomasz Madziar (195-92) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and guard Szymon Kucia (190-83) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Five Pogon Prudnik players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Pawel Wiekiera (206-78) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and guard Grzegorz Podulka (186-77) scored 20 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pogon Prudnik keeps a position of Group B leader, which they share with AZS AWF K-ce. GTK Gliwice lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth place with five games lost. Pogon Prudnik will face Nysa Klodzko (#10) in Kloszko in the next round and are hoping to win another game. GTK Gliwice will play at home against Alba Chorzow (#9).
