Rather expected game when 6th ranked Universidad de Valladolid (4-6) lost on the road to fourth ranked Aros Leon (6-4) 59-51 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Universidad de Valladolid won third quarter 13-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aros Leon dominated on the defensive end, holding Universidad de Valladolid to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Universidad de Valladolid 40-23 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Teresa Lopez Perez orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Maria Garcia (185-85) contributed with 8 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four Aros Leon players scored in double figures. Guard Paula Vicente (175-96) answered with 8 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Cristina Salinas (162-93) added 15 points in the effort for Universidad de Valladolid. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Aros Leon. They maintain fourth place in Group A with 6-4 record, which they share with Ensino. Loser Universidad de Valladolid keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Aros Leon will face Pabellon Ourense (#8) at home in the next round. Universidad de Valladolid will play against Real Celta Vigo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
