LNBP top team - Halcones UV Xalapa (36-4) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat sixteenth ranked Gigantes (3-37) in Toluca 113-98. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones UV Xalapa. Gigantes managed to win fourth quarter 28-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halcones UV Xalapa shot 64.3 percent from the field. Halcones UV Xalapa had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and international guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (185-86, college: W.Kentucky) who added 21 points during the contest. Halcones UV Xalapa's coach Angel Gonzalez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Jermaine Johnson (201-85, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) responded with 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward John Ruffus (207-81, college: Fayetteville St.) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones UV Xalapa have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 36-4 record. Gigantes lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 37 lost games.
