Everything could happen in Waterloo, ON at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Gryphons and 6th ranked Golden Hawks had identical 3-7 record. But Golden Hawks were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Guelph, ON 94-88 on Saturday night. Golden Hawks trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 25-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 88-94 at the end of the game. It was a great evening for forward Daniel McCarthy (190) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Zachary Angus (185) helped adding 26 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side guard Maxwell Allin (193) responded with 43 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and guard William Coulthard (188) scored 14 points and 7 assists. Four Golden Hawks players scored in double figures. Gryphons (4-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Golden Hawks keep the sixth position with eight games lost. Gryphons will face Badgers (#4) in St.Catharines, ON in the next round. Golden Hawks' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Waterloo, ON to the arena Warriors.
