There was a small surprise in Starogard where eighth ranked Polpharma (7-9) outscored 5th ranked AZS Koszalin (9-7) 96-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Polpharma. AZS Koszalin was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Polpharma looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. AZS Koszalin was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) fired 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. The other American import point guard Jawan Carter (180-87, college: Delaware) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Polpharma players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Robert Skibniewski (183-83) produced 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American power forward Darrell Harris (208-84, college: Rhode Island) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Polpharma have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 7-9 record. AZS Koszalin at the other side dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. Polpharma will face higher ranked Anwil (#4) in Wloclawek in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
