Rather predictable result in Thessaloniki where fourth ranked PAOK (9-3) defeated 7th ranked Apollon Patras (5-7) 68-61 on Saturday. Apollon Patras trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 61-68 at the end of the game. PAOK made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Dimitris Haritopoulos (205-83, agency: Interperformances) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). point guard Kostas Haralampidis (189-76) chipped in 17 points. PAOK's coach Soulis Markopoulos used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Nikos Argyropoylos (186-78) who recorded 14 points and 4 assists and naturalized Serbian swingman Vladimir Petrovic-Stergiou (199-77, agency: BeoExcell) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. PAOK moved-up to third place, which they share with Panionios. Apollon Patras lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Peristeri GS and Aris. PAOK will meet league's second-placed Panathinaikos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apollon Patras will play against the league's leader Olympiacos (#1) in Athens and hope to secure a win.
