Regular Season Round 16: Aix-en-Provence - Villeneuve 79-86
Date: January 12, 2013
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Les Milles where twelfth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (6-10) defeated 11th ranked Aix-en-Provence (6-10) 86-79. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aix-en-Provence won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villeneuve D'Ascq players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by point guard Bintou Dieme (164-84) who scored that evening 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and American swingman Lenae Williams (182-79, college: De Paul, agency: Josep and Nicolas) supported her with 20 points and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 20 points and 17 rebounds by Australian center Cayla Francis (192-89) did not help to save the game for Aix-en-Provence. Canadian forward Lizanne Murphy (185-84, college: Hofstra) added 17 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Villeneuve D'Ascq have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Aix-en-Provence and Charleville. Villeneuve D'Ascq's next round opponent will be league's leader Lattes Montpellier on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
