Regular Season Round 19: TRU - Calgary 69-60

Round 19 in CIS means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Kamloops where host Thompson Rivers (9-3) beat league's leader Calgary (10-2) 69-60 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Calgary. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Calgary trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 19-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 60-69 at the end of the game. Center Diane Schuetze (191) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Forward Tracy Kocs (178) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Thompson Rivers players scored in double figures. Forward Alex Cole (185-90) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and forward Jessica Franz (183) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Calgary's coach Damien Jennings rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Thompson Rivers have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Carleton and Ottawa. Calgary at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Carleton. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
