WNBL top team - Bendigo Spirit (16-2) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat sixth ranked Logan Thunder (6-11) in Loganholme 80-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Logan Thunder. Logan Thunder trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 25-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-80 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Logan Thunder 40-23 including 16 on the offensive glass. American forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. Canadian forward Chelsea Aubry (188-84, college: Nebraska) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) for the winners. The former international guard Kristen Veal (176-81) replied with 13 points and 7 assists and American guard Laurie Koehn (173-82, college: Kansas St.) added 10 points in the effort for Logan Thunder. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bendigo Spirit have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-2 record. Logan Thunder at the other side keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. Bendigo Spirit are looking forward to face Townsville Fire (#4) at home in the next round. Logan Thunder will play against West Coast Waves in Perth and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
