No shocking result in a game in Tehran where seventh ranked Shahrdari Gorgan (5-9) defeated bottom-ranked Naft Sepahan (3-11) 80-74 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Naft Sepahan won third quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Shahrdari Gorgan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Guard Mojtaba Bani Aghil (190-81) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Kaveh Nourafza (180-86) chipped in 23 points and 5 steals during the contest. The former international guard Amir Amini (189-84) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and the former international point guard Iman Zandi (188-81) scored 20 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Naft Sepahan's coach Mohsen Shah-Ali rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shahrdari Gorgan have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Loser Naft Sepahan dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. They share it with Esteghlal. Shahrdari Gorgan will meet at home higher ranked Foolad Mahan (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Naft Sepahan will play against the league's leader Petrochimi (#1) in Bandar Imam and hope to secure a win.
