Important game to mention about took place in Athens. Ninth ranked Peristeri GS (5-7) saved a 1-point derby victory at home edging higher ranked AGOR (7-5) 70-69 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AGOR. AGOR was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Strangely AGOR outrebounded Peristeri GS 34-22. The winners were led by American point guard Dwight Thorne (190-88, college: Colorado) who scored that evening 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Andreas Kanonidis (198-91) supported him with 17 points. Thorne is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Peristeri GS players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by Serbian center Damir Latovic (204-80) did not help to save the game for AGOR. The former international forward Nestoras Kommatos (203-77) added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Peristeri GS moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Aris and Apollon Patras. AGOR at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Peristeri GS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Ilysiakos.
