Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Athinaikos (#3) and Panionios (#11). Panionios was smashed at home by 23 points 55-78. The game without a history. Athinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game, while Panionios only scored two points from the stripe. Athinaikos forced 26 Panionios turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Afroditi Kosma (187-83) who scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Zoi Kechagia (170-79) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Five Athinaikos players scored in double figures. Athinaikos' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Enisa Semaniakou (183-88) who recorded 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and forward Zafiria Giabani (185-92) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Athinaikos have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion (11-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Panathinaikos and AO Ellinikou. Loser Panionios keeps the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Athinaikos will face Ikaros Kalitheas (#5) in Glyfada in the next round. Panionios will play on the road against Terpsithea (#7) in Glyfadas.
