Regular Season Round 12: Ikaros Kalitheas - Kronos AD 72-70

The most exciting game of round 12 in the A1 took place in Glyfada. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Kronos AD (5-7) to sixth ranked Ikaros Kalitheas (6-6) 72-70 in the game for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kronos AD. Ikaros Kalitheas forced 19 Kronos AD turnovers. The best player for the winners was American center Jasmine Erving (187-90, college: CS Northridge) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. The former international guard Theoni Tzegianaki (162-85) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists. Four Ikaros Kalitheas players scored in double figures. Ikaros Kalitheas' coach Giorgos Leivadis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jasmine Smith (172, college: St.Mary's, CA) who recorded 30 points and 5 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international power forward Nena Nikolaidou (190-79) added 13 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Ikaros Kalitheas moved-up to fifth place. Kronos AD at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ikaros Kalitheas are looking forward to face league's second-placed Athinaikos in Athens in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kronos AD will play at home against PAOK (#4) in Thessaloniki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
