Regular Season Round 28: Miyazaki SS - Shimane SM 69-99

Very predictable result when third ranked Shimane Magic (17-9) smashed on the road 10th ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (4-22) 99-69. The game was mostly controlled by Shimane Magic. Miyazaki Shining Suns was better in second period 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Miyazaki Shining Suns' 36. They outrebounded Miyazaki Shining Suns 46-28 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Shimane Magic especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. The game was also dominated by American players. Quite impressive performance for center Jeral Davis (216-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St., agency: I.D.S. Law) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) replied with 21 points and 5 rebounds and guard Larriques Cunningham (198-88, college: Lee) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Miyazaki Shining Suns. Five Shimane Magic and four Miyazaki Shining Suns players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shimane Magic maintains third position with 17-9 record having four points less than leader Okinawa GK. Miyazaki Shining Suns at the other side keep the tenth place with 22 games lost. Shimane Magic's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hamamatsu Phoenix in Mikawa and it will be for sure the game of the week. Miyazaki Shining Suns will play on the road against Osaka Evessa (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
