Regular Season Round 20: Bishop's - McGill 51-66

Date: January 16, 2013
No shocking result in a game in Sherbrooke where third ranked McGill (5-2) defeated bottom-ranked Bishop's (0-7) 66-51 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by McGill. Bishop's was better in fourth quarter 18-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bishop's to just 7 points in second quarter. McGill made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Bishop's turnovers and outrebounded them 33-19 including 19 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Guinean forward Mariam Sylla (186-93) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. point guard Gabriela Hebert (173) chipped in 15 points. Center Bailey Trafford (180) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and forward Riley Shkimba (178) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. McGill have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Concordia. Loser Bishop's still closes the standings with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
