Regular Season Round 15: Mogi das Cruzes - Uberlandia 83-81

The most exciting game of round 15 in the NBB took place in Mogi das Cruzes. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Uberlandia (11-3) to fifteenth ranked Mogi (5-9) 83-81 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Uberlandia. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-18. But Uberlandia won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Mogi won last quarter 18-18. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for the former international center Babby Araujo (211-80, college: BYU) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Caio Ranches (192-87) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American forward Robert Day (197-82, college: W.Oregon) answered with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Jose Estevam Ferreira (211-78) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Uberlandia. Four Mogi and five Uberlandia players scored in double figures. Mogi moved-up to fourteenth place. Uberlandia at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Mogi are looking forward to face higher ranked Vivo/Franca (#4) in Sao Paulo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Uberlandia will play on the road against Sao Jose/Vinac and is hoping to win this game.
