Regular Season Round 24: DongGuan L. - Fujian QB 108-100

Rather predictable result when eleventh ranked DongGuan Leopards (11-11) defeated at home 14th ranked Fujian (8-15) 108-100 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fujian won third quarter 29-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. DongGuan Leopards made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Haislip (208-80, college: Tennessee) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. The other American import point guard Blake Ahearn (188-84, college: Missouri St.) chipped in 29 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was international Zhelin Wang (215-94) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Sundiata Gaines (185-86, college: Georgia) added 19 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Four DongGuan Leopards and five Fujian players scored in double figures. Fujian's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. DongGuan Leopards moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Zhejiang CB. Loser Fujian keeps the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. DongGuan Leopards will meet at home Foshan (#12) in the next round. Fujian will play against the league's leader Guandong Tigers where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
