Regular Season Round 15: Kings - Tigers 74-77

Important game to mention about took place in Sydney. Sixth ranked Melbourne Tigers (6-9) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Kings (10-9) 77-74 on Friday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-15. But Kings won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kings were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Jonny Flynn (183-89, college: Syracuse) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Center Ian Crosswhite (210-82, college: Oregon) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and American forward Darnell Lazare (203-85, college: LSU, agency: Priority Sports) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Kings in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Melbourne Tigers moved-up to fifth place. Kings lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with nine games lost. Melbourne Tigers will play against Adelaide 36ers (#7) in Findon in the next round. Kings will play on the road against the league's leader New Zealand Breakers (#1) in Auckland and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
