Regular Season Round 24: Qingdao E. - Beijing Ducks 104-101

The most exciting game of round 24 in the CBA took place in Qingdao. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best Beijing Ducks (15-7) to seventeenth ranked Qingdao Eagles (6-17) 104-101 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Qingdao Eagles outrebounded Beijing Ducks 48-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Beijing Ducks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Chris Daniels (211-84, college: Limoges) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import swingman Tracy McGrady (203-79) who added 15 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Qingdao Eagles players scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles' coach ZhengXiu Jiang used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) with 31 points and 8 rebounds and international center YanXi Zhu (209-90) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Qingdao Eagles have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain seventeenth position with 6-17 record. Beijing Ducks lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with seven games lost. Qingdao Eagles are looking forward to face higher ranked TianJin Steel (#11) in Tianjin in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Beijing Ducks will play at home against Xinjiang Flying Tige (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
