Regular Season Round 21: Laurentian - Ryerson 73-68

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Laurentian's (5-7) home victory over 6th ranked Ryerson (3-9) in Greater Sudbury 73-68 on Friday. Ryerson trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 15-9 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-73 at the end of the game. It was a great shooting night for Laurentian especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Laurentian made 8 blocks. It was a good game for Sasha Polishchuk who led her team to a victory with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Adrienne Moreau (175) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Laurentian players scored in double figures. Laurentian's coach Mike Clarke allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Annie Sokoloff (182) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Cassandra Nofuente (175) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Ryerson. Laurentian maintains fifth place with 5-7 record, which they share with McMaster and Lakehead. Ryerson lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Laurentian will face higher ranked Toronto (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ryerson's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Toronto to the arena York.
