There was no surprise in Galdakao where 11th ranked Segle XXI (3-9) was defeated by fourth ranked Orion-GDKO (8-4) 63-53. The game was mostly controlled by Orion-GDKO. Segle XXI was better in second period 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Segle XXI to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Segle XXI 40-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Argentinian-Czech guard Cecilia Lineira (180-86) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Ana Roman (192-82) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Orion-GDKO players scored in double figures. Belen Arrojo (-95) replied with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Maria Navarro (184-95) added 11 points in the effort for Segle XXI. Segle XXI's coach Ramon Jordana tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Orion-GDKO moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Real Canoe and Alcobendas. Segle XXI lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with nine games lost. Orion-GDKO's next round opponent will be Real Canoe (#3) in Madrid, which may be the game of the day. Segle XXI will play at home against Leganes (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
