Regular Season Round 22: Cape Breton - Acadia 93-72
Date: January 19, 2013
The game between closely ranked teams ended with top-ranked Capers' (11-0) home victory over their biggest opponent Axemen (7-2) 93-72 on Saturday. The game without a history. Capers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Capers outrebounded Axemen 48-30 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Arild Geugjes (203) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Jimmy Dorsey (188) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals during the contest. At the losing side point guard Jonathan Tull (190, college: Cent.Conn.St.) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and forward Bradley States (198) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Capers have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-0 record. Loser Axemen dropped to the third place with two games lost. Capers will face again Axemen (#3) in Wolfville, NS in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
