Regular Season Round 24: Nova Ves - Svit 89-95

Bottom-ranked Svit managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Nova Ves 95-89. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nova Ves won fourth quarter 31-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American guard Lamar Grimes (182-83, college: Indiana St.) who led his team to a victory with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import swingman Sean Smith (201-85, college: N.Illinois) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) replied with 34 points (!!!) and Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Nova Ves. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Svit maintains ninth position with 5-17 record. Nova Ves lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 11 games lost. Svit are looking forward to face league's second-placed Levice at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Nova Ves will play against Inter Bratislava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
