Regular Season Round 18: Wisla Can-Pak - BI SSA Gdynia 83-59

There was no surprise in Krakow where 7th ranked BI SSA Gdynia (6-8) was crushed by third ranked Wisla Can-Pak (11-3) 83-59. The game was mostly controlled by Wisla Can-Pak. BI SSA Gdynia was better in second period 11-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Wisla Can-Pak dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to BI SSA Gdynia's 36. Wisla Can-Pak forced 19 BI SSA Gdynia turnovers. Center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut, agency: LBM Management) notched 27 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and Belgian swingman Anke De Mondt (175-79) supported her with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Wisla Can-Pak players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Talisa Rhea (180-89, college: Seattle) did not help to save the game for BI SSA Gdynia. Her fellow American import swingman Antonia Bennett (185-90, college: Florida A&M) added 13 points. Defending champion maintains third position with 11-3 record having just two points less than leader Artego Bydg. BI SSA Gdynia at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Wisla Can-Pak's next round opponent will be Widzew (#10) in Lodz and are hoping to win another game. BI SSA Gdynia will play on the road against Energa Torun.
