Caja Rural (#4) was upset in Hondarribia by eighth ranked Hondarribia-Irun 75-70. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Caja Rural won third quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Caja Rural 50-39 including 16 on the offensive glass. American center Mandisa Stevenson (191-82, college: Auburn) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import guard Italee Lucas (172-89, college: N.Carolina) accounted for 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hondarribia-Irun (5-7) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Burgos and Gran Canaria. Newly promoted Caja Rural keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Cadi ICG S. and UNB Obenasa. Hondarribia-Irun will play against Conquero (#10) in Huelva in the next round. Caja Rural will play on the road against the league's second-placed Perfumerias Avenida (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
