Regular Season Round 16: Vila Velha - Brasilia 94-85

There was an upset when higher ranked Brasilia (9-4) was defeated on the road by fifteenth ranked Vila Velha (5-10) 94-85 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Brasilia won third quarter 28-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vila Velha made 29-of-35 free shots (82.9 percent) during the game. Brasilia was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard James Parker (188-81, college: Robert Morris) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and guard Alexandre Pinheiro (185-85) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international forward Guilherme Giovannoni (202-80, agency: Interperformances) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and international guard Alex Ribeiro (191-80, agency: Interperformances) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Brasilia's coach Jose Carlos Vidal rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Vila Velha moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Mogi das Cruzes. Defending champion Brasilia dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Vila Velha will face higher ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
