Regular Season Round 22: Saskatchewan - TRU 89-70

Date: January 19, 2013
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Saskatoon where fourth ranked Saskatchewan (8-6) smashed one of their biggest challengers Thompson Rivers (10-4) 89-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Saskatchewan. Thompson Rivers was better in third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Saskatchewan made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Saskatchewan had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Dalyce Emmerson (191) scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Kelsey Trulsrud (178) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Saskatchewan players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Diane Schuetze (191) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and guard Jen Ju (170) scored 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Saskatchewan have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Alberta. Loser Thompson Rivers keep the third position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
