Date: January 19, 2013
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Carleton as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Carleton smashed 3rd ranked Queen's in Ottawa 64-38. The game without a history. Carleton led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Queen's to just 5 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Queen's 34-19 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard guard Elizabeth Roach (173) (173) notched 10 points and 8 assists to lead the effort and forward forward Lindsay Shotbolt (180) (180) supported her with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Carleton's coach Taffe Charles felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 10 points and 8 assists by guard guard Elizabeth Roach (173) (173) did not help to save the game for Queen's. Forward forward Lindsay Shotbolt (180) (180) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Carleton have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Ottawa. Queen's at the other side dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with UNBC and Lethbridge. Queen's will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Carleton will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Ottawa. It will be extra interesting game as Ottawa is their local rival from Ottawa.
